What is a Bioblitz?

A BioBlitz is a fun-filled, action-packed event where people of all ages and experience levels work together to uncover the amazing diversity of life in a specific location, all within a set time limit.

No experience necessary! Whether you’re a seasoned naturalist or simply curious about the wonders of nature, the Mystery Bay Bioblitz welcomes everyone. There will be experts on hand to guide you and answer your questions.

The Importance of Citizen Science:

Australia’s unique biodiversity is vast, but much remains unknown. Citizen science is bridging this gap by allowing everyday people to contribute valuable data by recording wildlife observations through apps like iNaturalist. These records help scientists track species distribution, monitor environmental changes, and inform conservation efforts.

Join the Budawang Coast Atlas of Life!

BCAL is a community network dedicated to exploring nature on the NSW South Coast. They share information, host events, and use iNaturalist to record discoveries. With over 112,000 observations of nearly 7,000 species, these citizen scientists are a powerful force for good.

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to explore nature, learn valuable skills, and contribute to science during Science Week!
